ahhh... So much more relaxed than the two-day rush of the San Luis Obispo events.

"Son, ya wanna toss the football?"
"Dad, you reek of desperation. You're like a moray eel popping out of a reef as I swim nearby, snapping teeth..."

"Son, my life is rich. I love my new job, I'm writing a lot... I'm just very glad to see you, and time is fleeting."

He is charming and creative in his insults, and it gives me a chance to respond With Great Import. It's a fine dynamic.

We tossed the ball - first time in forever. As a dad, this simple kindness is a Big Thing.

Later, when he was showing off his Calculus fluency (because I have forgotten 100% of mine (x-->0) and he is still a half an inch shorter), I had to stop and dig up an old souvenir: "here, use this as a pointer" - his old Harry Potter Magic Wand. It's that far beyond me.

For those of you who will have a wait a bit longer to be with your loved ones, I hope your patience lasts and the wait remains bearable. Like old friends reacquainted, where the intervening time away just seems to vanish, your time with your loved one will again be magic. With or without a wand.

Much love!
